This is an ongoing series of photographs exploring the relationship between earth and sky on the eastern plains of Colorado. Halcyon can be used to describe either calm, tranquil weather or the carefree days of times gone by. Harbinger refers to a foretelling…a hint of things to come. As a storm builds along the horizon, we don’t know if it will bring beneficial rain or damaging winds and hail, but we know that something is on its way. Each of these photographs portrays either a scene of tranquil, rural peacefulness or the uncertainly of things to come. Although part of a series, each of these photographs has been approached individually to achieve the desired results. You will notice that some of them have texturing added to further develop the mood of the photograph while some remain untextured. They are the halcyon/harbinger project.
